ANALISIS KESALAHAN KONSEP MAHASISWA PADA PERKULIAHAN KONSEP DASAR MATEMATIKA
Keywords:
Conceptual Errors, Basic Mathematics Concepts, UndergraduatesAbstract
The aim of this study is to determine mathematical conceptual errors that occur during lectures. The study sample consisted of 73 of the 3rd semester undergraduate students from the Primary School Teacher Education (PGMI) program who were enrolled in the Basic Mathematical Concepts course across three class units (Units I, II, and III). Data collection techniques are carried out by monitoring each answer from the students' exercises, quizzes, assignments, and mid-term exam answers. The data analysis technique was carried out using descriptive analysis of students' misunderstandings of mathematical concepts. The research results found several conceptual errors that occurred, including: (1) conceptual errors in arithmetic operations involving negative numbers, (2) conceptual errors in fraction operations, (3) conceptual errors in algebra, especially those involving one or two variables, and (4) not completing the units for measuring area and length.
